I have taken many self improvement classes over the years and have enjoyed them all. This year, I have decided to focus on my scrapbooking hobby and wanted to try Ali Edwards One Little Word. As I was exploring this option, I found many of my Scrap Happy sisters also have one little word as a yearly focus, without the class.
How does one find a word? Many will say the word just comes to you. I thought that true while on the treadmill a few weeks ago thinking about the word EASY. I tend to make things more difficult for myself and thought that might be a super idea for 2014. However the more I thought about it, as after listening to Ali’s first video, I had a change of heart. I started looking for words.
CREATE was the next word I was considering. I teach technology in my full time job and love being crafts oriented in my free time. I thought picking this word will help me include some creativity in my job as well as help me do more for myself. But I wasn’t in love.
Then I saw inspiration from the Copic in the Craft Room Facebook Page – STRETCH. I loved the word and started thinking how it would apply to me this year. I have to work on some new projects in my job that are certainly a stretch for me… I want to do more artistry in my crafts this year…. And my personal life is currently a tad bit challenging, causing me to possibly stretch in communications. It’s a perfect word!
I had also been inspired by The Simple Things: A Creative Journal with Heidi Swapp. This was a class from the latest True Scrap held in October. So much so that I bought a Cinch and have yet to start using it. And that’s how my One Little Word Journal was born.
I’m so excited about my word and am looking forward to STRETCHing in 2014. I’ll share my journey through the year. And feel free to play along, what is a word that you wish to focus on this year?
