Forever Friday: Mixed Media

My Summer Scrapping Challenge this week is to work on a Mixed Media / Art Journaling style layout. I was asked to provide more information on exactly what I meant.  To me, mixed media style is very free flowing, often colorful and very similar to collage. When I work on a physical mixed media project I use paints, stencils, rubber stamps and paper scraps.

Here are some digi-layouts I’ve created using this style.

For digi-scrapping you can look for kits that include some of these design elements:

  • Book Print paper with color
  • Paper with splatter
  • Paper with handwriting on it
  • Paper that looks aged, folded or torn
  • Collage-type paper
  • Arts-y splatter embellishments
  • Overlays and Masks

If you’re shopping at the Forever Digital Art Store, you can search by Style. I found a lot of options searching the Grunge style.

  • Fayette
  • Jumpstart Designs
  • Katie Pertiet
  • Across the Pond

I also have an Art Journaling board on Pinterest. Although it’s more focused away from digi scrapbooking you might find some tutorials and inspiration there.  Here’s another post I found from a few years ago that has some cool ideas!  And to join the Summer Scrapping Challenge Facebook group, click here.
