Saving Layouts Directly from Artisan to Forever

It’s the middle of another Layout a Day month and I’ve had an epiphany!  When I save my layouts to upload to the gallery, why not also save them (at full resolution) to my Forever Account?   And so I have now been taking the extra 1-2 minutes to permanently save my layouts as I finish them every day.  After LOAD, I’ll make this part of my routine when I finish an album.  It’s the best way to ensure that the layouts are Forever saved to my account.  Additionally, they then become accessible from my mobile device through the app.  Win Win!

Here’s how you can save your layouts from Artisan directly to your Forever Account.

  • From the project, click File.

  • Share to Forever.

  • Choose the page(s) to be uploaded.

  • Select the album (or make a new one)

  • Login to your account.

Forever Friday: Finish in Four Part 3

Who wants to make a 21-99 page book in January with me using Forever Print!?  Join me each Friday, this month, right here to get a quick assignment for the week.

You don’t have to write an essay, but consider including who, where, when, why, what on each page or two page spread. Will those looking at your book need you there to tell the story? Or will the photo book INCLUDE your story?

The online templates don’t have a lot of space for journaling so it won’t be a difficult task. If you’d like to include more, consider creating a text box in MS Word and then using the snipping tool to save it as a jpg. Fitting into a photo opening can be a little tricky, but it can be done.

Share a screenshot of a page in your book in the comments.

Using Overlays in your Digi Layouts

I wanted to share a video I created to help showcase using overlays in digital layout with Artisan.

I’d love to see how you are using overlays, link up your layouts so we can be inspired.

Have you seen this great Mega Kit with Overlays, Masks and More?  I love the collaboration with Little Feet Digital Designs and Dagi’s Temp-tations.

Forever Friday: Layout turned into Canvas Print

Can you believe it’s half way through 2017?  Why does time fly by so fast!?!?!  I won’t even tell you how close to the holiday season we are.  ha ha ha!

I was window shopping recently and saw this in a store window and was immediately inspired.

I had an idea, in my head, on how I would do this in Artisan.  It worked out fine, however I think there’s probably an easier way.

  1. Insert > Shape > Anchor.
  2. Use the outliner tool (Insert > Outliner) to make a duplicate shape.  Then on the element, right click Text > Format and work with the settings on the right panel.  Make sure to mark “Fill shape with text” and type in the text as you want it to show.
  3. Edit the text to use the Font(s) and approximate size(s).  I used Felix Titling and Agency FB as my fonts and it was mostly sized at 30-36pts.
  4. Fiddle with the Text element Shape > Edit shape to change the points to fit the text where I want it.  This took me over an hour to play with until I got it right.  I ended up using a Text Path for the final line in the curve of the anchor.
  5. Add the background image (my own photograph taken in San Francisco Bay).
  6. Select the shape from Step 1 and Format > Gradient.  I used colors from the image to blend in.
  7. With that same shape selected, Filter > Edge > 3D Edge.
  8. I added a little glow to give it more dimension and then I flattened the shape and added a heavy shadow.

Here’s the finished product – what do you think?

Make it Monday: A Ruff Life

As a member of Scrap it Up 365, I love doing the 7 in 7 challenges – one layout a day for seven days.  This months theme was “April Fools” and funny layouts.  Day 3 asked us to use Puns as inspiration for my layout.  Of course, I had to feature my favorite canine-kid!

Stuck!? Sketches April 1, 2017 Challenge / Digi Kit: Forever Woof Bundle

One thing I learned was that I’m not terribly funny.  I don’t tell jokes or like to prank others.  It made it difficult for me to find inspiration for layouts – but I did love the challenge!
