Creative Happenings this Weekend

There’s quite a few creative opportunities happening this weekend – check ’em out!

Starting today at 1pm (but truly a go at your own pace event) is my friend Melissa’s Tropical Paradise Virtual Open House.  She’ll have creative instruction, games and prizes!  Join her VIP Group for all the details.

Tomorrow at 10am I’ll be teaching how to use Forever Historian’s Album Planner feature.  I love using this, especially for my vacation books!  All the info is in my VIP Group under Events.

All weekend Creative Memories is hosting a Virtual Crop.  They typically provide a variety of sketches and ask to see your layouts, using CM products (paper or digi).  The event is run on Facebook in their Virtual Crop Group. If you’re looking for CM Supplies, I’d be honored is you selected me as your Advisor while shopping.

Layout a Day for a week next week

Hello!  MiniLOAD starts next week and the theme is Scrap the Rainbow!   You can see a sneak preview in my Scrapbooking Challenge Group.

The purpoase of Mini Layout a Day is to create at least one layout per day for just one week.  It could inspire you to keep going!  The theme and prompts are to help give you ideas or a jumping off point for your layout.  However it’s mostly about getting those layouts done, even if it’s off prompt.  You can pocket-scrapbook, digi-scrapbook or use paper – it’s totally up to you!

This year’s miniLOAD starts on July 13th (in just 5 days)!!

Font Lovers Unite!

Fonts are so fun and a great way to enhance our scrapbooking layouts.  I’m often asked about fonts and where to find them.   Here’s some of my go-to places.

  • What the Font!  Have you ever wondered what a specific font is?  This is a great tool that helps to identify fonts from an image that you upload.
  • Best Fonts!  There are tons a great places to find fonts.  Once you know the name of what you’re looking for, just search for that and see what comes up.  Here are the websites that I trust and use:
    • DaFont
    • The Hungry jpg – lots of freebies here and often with both personal and commercial use licenses.
    • Font Bundles – another site with lots of freebies!
    • Kimberly Geswein makes fonts and has great resourses on her website.  You can also download all her free fonts in a single download from here.
  • I also have made my handwriting into a font using Your Fonts.
  • I recently learned about iFontMaker for making your own fonts.  It’s only available for Apple or Windows systems.

As I learn about more, I’ll continue to add to this post.  Comment with your favorites!

Happy interNational Scrapbooking Day!  How are you celebrating?  I was supposed to be hosting a weekend event in the mountains in Northern California but that was canceled so I’m crafting at home.  Here’s a few things that I’m doing today.  Comment with what you’re doing!

Close to My Heart all day crop.  I purchased the Card Kit #1 and will be following along making that.

Creative Memories Virtual Crop. I’m considering using one of these sketches for my Layout of the Day today.

Layout a Day Challenge started yesterday so I’ll make sure to finish at least a layout today!  Join this weekend with promo code BEATLES25 and save 25% (through May 3, 2020).

I’m also going to spend some time outside in the yard and getting some sun!

AutoBooks are here

Forever released AutoBooks on Friday.  This is an easy and quick way to do a Photo Book.  You upload your photos, preferably to an album and then use the AutoBook feature.  The system will automatically place your photos into the book.  You can preview it and change layouts, as you like.  Add text to the bottom of pages or insert a full page of text where you like.  Truthfully, it’s meant to be super simple.  No embellishments, simple captions and it’s done.  I love this option for vacations, weekends away or events!  Take a look at this walkthrough video and let me know what you think.

If you are new to Forever and create your free account here, you’ll receive a $15 coupon after you confirm your email.  This could be enough to make your first photo book free! (Depending on the size and cover you select).

If you are already a Forever customer, you can earn $15 coupons by referring your friends.

Happy Earth Day!

Today is Earth Day and I’m spending it at our new mountain house doing a bunch of yard work.  As I mentioned last month, the Tree of Life at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom is one of my favorite parts of that park.

However now that Pandora is open at the same park it’s even more interesting and fun!   Avatar is one of our favorite movies and the environmental theme is really thought provoking.  I’m so glad that Disney Parks is taking that theme to heart and has so many initiatives to promote conservation, including some great solar initiatives!  Click here to read all about those.
