Make it Monday: Watercolor Tag

Even though I’m a digi scrapbooker, I’m finding myself doing more tactile paper crafts like cards and art journaling.  As I work more and more with paint, I’ve been learning to brush my excess onto a scrap piece of paper.  That, together with the new (to me) punch from Creative Memories is making me very happy.

Now I’m finding myself wanting to use more paint to have more excess!  This punch is becoming one that stays on my desk all the time.

There’s so much goodness in the Creative Christmas Bundle this year I’m having trouble finding time to enjoy all of it!  I love the Good Cheer digi kit and the templates included are really fun and easy.

To use the templates, I copied the png files into a new 8 1/2 x 11 project and then I used the papers in the Digi-Kit to make the Flower and Ornament.  I printed them out on card-stock and cut out the images, however I think these would look really terrific with any of your holiday double-sided scrapbook paper as well.

While assembling the flower, I found having a round pen to help round the paper was very useful.  And for the ornament, it’s fun to play with making different shapes by moving the staple position.

After adding a button and some twine, I think they’re ready to be hung.

Sparkle and Shine

Have you been inspired by these Make it Monday posts?  I know I have… I’m loving everyone’s projects and ideas!  Did you see this week’s Free Layout Template from Jen?  I got mine!  Read on to see who’s next in the circle….

I loved the Sparkle & Shine December card kit from Simon Says stamps last fall!   I’ve been stamping and embossing that Sparkle and Shine all over the place!

I loved it so much that I decided to make some fun layered tags for the folks coming to Scrap Camp last month.

2015-02-13 09.09.57

I use pre-cut tags and dabbed some distress ink mixed with water onto them.  I then stamped from an old circle background stamp and added the Sparkle and Shine with a pop up dot.   I also added some sparkle gems to the bottom and silver bag ties as the string.

I challenged those at Scrap Camp to use the tag in a layout and here’s what one person did – I love it!

One of the things I love about being a hybrid crafter is that I can scan my creations for repeat use in my digi projects.  Click on any of the images below to go to a download link for all three embellishments. Feel free to play with these on your projects and please share them in the comments as I love to get new ideas from you!

Using Gelli Prints Digitally

Welcome back to our Make It Monday series!  You probably arrived here from Jen who shared her Count Your Blessing Project.  Read through to see the others in this blog hop.

I’ve fallen in love with my Gelli Plate and making fun papers to use with my paper projects.  However I love some of the prints more than others and feel like I could never get it that good again!   I realized I could scan my prints and then use them in my digi-scrapping too.

I have a fairly new Brother MFC all-in-one machine that actually scans better than does photo quality printing.  I’ve scanned my prints and then imported them into my Artisan software.  Once in the software, I’ve tagged them to make it easier to find and use.

I then can use them in my projects as I wish.  So far, I’ve done a layout and a two sided tag. I love how the paper looks embellished and the colors in the tags are so fun!

St. Patty’s Day Tag Swap

I’ve really been enjoying tag swaps and working to make them hybrid.  This time around, I made a square digi tag and added a ribbon – I’m traveling a lot for work and just didn’t have time to get creative.  I printed them in 4×4 at Walgreens and was impressed with the quality and price.

As a 3rd generation Irish, I’m looking forward to having some Shepherd’s Pie for dinner.  Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?  If so, how?

Oh, and today’s the last day to get a great discount for True Stamp in April. Use the promo code LOVE.  Who’s joining me?

ScrapHappy Family Reunion

I just spent the weekend with some wonderful scrappy friends.  I am a member of the Scrap Happy Community and was lucky enough to be able to attend last weekend’s family reunion in San Antonio, TX.  We enjoyed the Riverwalk by boat, the Alamo and one another.  Beyond Scrapping, we have so much in common!  I even met a sorority sister!

We made tags to swap to use on our layouts.  Here’s what I made:

LifeisGood_forblogI did this all in StoryBook Creator Plus 4.0 but used several techniques and products.  I first made the background an Ombre “washi” background.  I learned this from a ScrapHappy scrapinar led by Monica Bradford.  By the way, I got to meet Monica this past weekend – WaaHoo!!

I then added Under the Sea embellishments that were recently featured as the .99 item on Designing Digitals.

I love how this came out!  Even my hubby was impressed, he took one for his desk at work!

What have you scrapped lately?

If you like this background, you can use it free!  Just click on the image below and save to your computer.  ENJOY!

What have you been scrapping?

I made a couple of fun digi-tags for a ScrapHappy weekend away… I’ll post after I’ve given them away. And I’ll be scrapping all Saturday night – I’m working on a birthday party invitation and finishing 2012 to get printed. SO…. what are you working on?

I challenge you to post a layout by Monday so we can all ooooh and AAAAH.

So get scrappy!!!
