Make it Monday – Ghost Frames

Make it Monday is such a great commitment for me to have projects ready to post each week. If you are joining me from Connie’s post about cupcake toppers… welcome!

I love learning new digi-scrapping techniques for Artisan. It’s such a fun and easy software to use! This technique is called Ghost Frames and I learned it from the Pixies at Pixels2Pages.

Here’s a summary of how to make this frame effect.

1. Bring your picture to the workspace.
2. Make a copy of the picture and arrange the copy to sit directly on top of the original.
3. Cut a square from the top copy of the picture and flatten
4. Format the image you cut – I used 3D effects but I think it would be neat to play around with mosaic and other formatting options.

Pixels2Pages has a complete video tutorial showing the steps within Artisan. You can try them out for free but the membership is really worth it as I’ve learned tons (and tons) from them!

If you play with this feature, link up your layout – we’d love to see your work!

Now, check out Alison’s post about taking your layouts from ‘meh’ to ‘Marvellous’ as you hop around out Make it Monday Blogs.

  2. Love the way that looks!! I don’t have that software, but wonder if it could be done with PSE? Can’t invest in something else until I learn to use what I have…

      • I’ll keep that in mind. 🙂 Is that related to the old Storybook Creator from CM that was a gift that I never got installed?

      • Yes, it is related. However if you never installed Storybook Creator, you’ll have to get Artisan as you won’t be able to activate the old Storybook License anymore.

      • Ummm, as a coaster? ha ha!!! Actually, there might be some scrappy content on the disk that would work in Artisan. If you were ever to get that. Otherwise, it’s ok to toss.

      • That’s too bad, because a friend gave me the Disney piece that goes with that… That will teach me to get at things promptly! Or maybe not… sigh.
